58 TinkerPie projects

Every project opens in TinkerPie Studio as blocks, shows the same program as JavaScript and Arduino C++, and runs on the simulator before you send it to the board.

Starter

Starter projects use only the TinkerPie board: the 6 × 5 RGB LED matrix, buttons, touch, buzzer, motion, temperature, light, distance and sound sensors, motors and servos.

Hello, TinkerPieA red heart, then your first scrolling message.StarterScrolling BOTICSBOTICS scrolls across the matrix in a new colour every time.StarterHeartbeatA beating heart: brightness pulses like lub-dub.Starter
Rainbow waveA rainbow that flows across all 30 LEDs.Starter
Button counterA adds one, B resets. Counts show on the matrix.StarterShake diceShake the board to roll a number from 1 to 6, with a click.StarterSpirit levelTilt the board: a green dot rolls to the low side.StarterThermometerShows the temperature, red when it is above 30 °C.StarterNight lightThe matrix glows warm white when the room gets dark.StarterParking sensorHold your hand over the board: bars grow and beeps speed up as it gets closer.StarterClap lightsClap once: lights on. Clap again: lights off.StarterRobot danceButton A: forward, spin, back. Button B: brake. Uses MOTOR 1 and MOTOR 2.StarterServo sweepA servo on S1 sweeps from 0° to 180° and back.StarterCompassShows N when the board points north, an arrow otherwise.StarterMelody playerButton A plays a tune; the matrix shows a music note.StarterReaction gameWait for green, then press A as fast as you can. Your time scrolls past.Starter

Sensor projects

Sensor projects connect TinkerPie to accessory modules like soil moisture, ultrasonic, PIR, DHT11, OLED and LCD displays, relays and LED strips.

Thirsty plant alarmA soil moisture sensor tells TinkerPie when the plant needs water: a sad face and a beep.Sensor projectsUltrasonic rulerMeasures how far your hand is, in centimetres, with an HC-SR04 sonar.Sensor projectsSmart dustbin lidWave over the bin: a servo opens the lid for two seconds, then closes it.Sensor projectsIntruder alarmA PIR motion sensor sees someone moving: red flashes and a siren.Sensor projectsWeather station on OLEDA DHT11 measures temperature and humidity; an OLED screen shows them with a bar.Sensor projectsRoom climate on an LCDAn AHT20 sensor and a 16 × 2 LCD. The matrix smiles when the room is comfortable.Sensor projectsFire alarmA flame sensor sees fire: red and orange flashing with a two-tone siren.Sensor projectsGas leak detectorAn MQ-2 sensor: the bar graph rises with gas or smoke, and it beeps above 60 %.Sensor projectsRain alertA rain sensor gets wet: blue rain drops on the matrix and a beep.Sensor projectsWater tank levelA water level sensor fills a blue bar graph and beeps FULL at the top.Sensor projects
Knob colour mixerTurn a potentiometer to slide the whole matrix through every colour of the rainbow.Sensor projects
Joystick pixel painterSteer a green dot around the matrix with a joystick.Sensor projectsObstacle-avoiding robotAn IR sensor at the front: the robot backs up and turns when something is in the way.Sensor projectsLine follower robotTwo line trackers keep the robot on a black tape line.Sensor projectsLight meterA BH1750 measures light in lux, shown big on an OLED screen with a bar.Sensor projectsColour detectiveHold something over a TCS34725 colour sensor: the whole matrix lights up in its colour.Sensor projectsContactless thermometerAn MLX90614 measures temperature without touching: green when fine, red HOT above 37.5 °C.Sensor projectsDigital clockA DS3231 clock module keeps the time; a 4-digit display shows hours and minutes. Button A sets the time.Sensor projectsStep counterUses the motion sensor on the board: every shake (step) adds one. B starts again.Sensor projectsEarthquake detectorA vibration sensor counts tremors: red flash, low beep, and the count in the console.Sensor projectsSmart street lightA light sensor and a relay: when it gets dark, the lamp turns on by itself.Sensor projectsTraffic lightA traffic light module runs green, yellow, red, and the matrix shows walk or wait.Sensor projectsPool thermometerA waterproof DS18B20 probe: the matrix turns from blue (cold) to red (warm).Sensor projects
Mood lampA WS2812 LED strip flows through a rainbow. Touch the π logo to make it brighter or dimmer.Sensor projects
Door alarmA reed switch and a magnet on the door: a tick while it is closed, an alarm when it opens.Sensor projectsClassroom noise meterThe microphone on the board: a bar graph of the noise, red over the limit.Sensor projects

AI camera

AI camera projects use the laptop webcam with on-device AI (MediaPipe) to count fingers, read hand signs, find faces and smiles, see colours and notice movement.

Finger counterShow 1, 2, 3… fingers to the webcam and TinkerPie shows the number. Use both hands for up to 10!AI cameraRock, paper, scissorsPlay against TinkerPie with your hand: fist = rock, open hand = paper, peace sign = scissors.AI cameraThumbs-up votingA class vote: thumbs up counts YES, thumbs down counts NO. Button A shows the result.AI cameraHand-controlled servoMove your hand left and right: a servo on S1 follows it, like a robot arm.AI cameraAir pianoRaise and lower your hand in the air to play high and low notes.AI cameraFace greeterWhen someone looks at the camera, TinkerPie smiles and says HI. When they leave, it falls asleep.AI cameraFace-following robotA two-wheel robot turns to keep your face in the middle of the camera picture.AI cameraCamera colour copyHold a coloured object in the dashed box: the matrix copies its colour and says its name.AI cameraCamera motion alarmGuard your room: any movement in front of the webcam sets off the alarm. A resets the counter.AI cameraGesture light switchOpen hand: lights on. Fist: off. Peace: rainbow. Thumbs up or down: brighter or dimmer.AI cameraSmile meterThe bar grows with your smile. A big smile plays a happy tune.AI camera

IoT

IoT projects connect TinkerPie to Wi-Fi: a phone dashboard served by the board, phone notifications and ThingSpeak cloud graphs.

Phone weather stationTemperature, humidity and light from the board, live on your phone.IoTPhone-controlled robotButtons on your phone drive a two-wheel robot. The slider sets the speed.IoTDoorbell notifierPress A: a bell rings and your phone gets a notification, even from another room.IoTCloud thermometer (ThingSpeak)Logs temperature and light to a ThingSpeak channel every 20 seconds: graphs you can open anywhere.IoTSmart plant monitorSoil moisture on your phone dashboard, a notification when the plant is thirsty, and a ThingSpeak log.IoT
