Face ID and teachable AI for kids: teach the camera your face
With teachable recognition you are the AI trainer. Show the camera examples of up to three things, and TinkerPie learns to tell them apart in seconds.
How it works
For every example, a small neural network (MobileNet-V3, through MediaPipe) turns the picture into a list of numbers, like a fingerprint. To recognise something, Studio finds the examples whose fingerprints are closest (the nearest neighbours) and lets them vote. This is real machine learning, and it all happens in your browser.
Teach it
- Open a project with learned blocks, for example Face ID door lock, and press Run.
- Press Start camera. The Teach the camera box appears.
- For faces, set Recognise to faces (face ID): only the biggest face is used. For objects, cards or poses, keep the whole picture.
- Hold Teach 1 for about 5 seconds while you move a little. Do the same for 2 (and 3).
- Teach a “nothing” class too (an empty background), so the program does not guess when nothing is shown.
Good to know
- What you teach stays until you reload the page. Teach again in a few seconds.
- Face ID here is for fun and learning, not for security.
learned confidence(0-100) tells you how sure the AI is.
