Your first accessory

Plug a sensor module into TinkerPie and read it: a soil moisture plant alarm. Beginner · 10 min

Start this tutorial in TinkerPie Studio

1. Wire it

   Soil moisture sensor: AO → P10, VCC → 3.3 V, GND → GND. The Accessories page shows the wiring of 47 modules.

2. Read it

   Open Accessories → Sensors. Put show number in forever and drop soil moisture % on pin P10 into it.

3. Decide

   Use if … else: if moisture < 30 show a sad face and beep, else show a happy face.

4. Test without the sensor

   Press Run. The Accessories panel under the simulator now has a soil moisture slider. Slide it down: the plant gets thirsty.

5. On the board

   Download it and put the sensor in a plant pot. Water it and watch the face change.
